Blind Indin artist Binod Bihari Mukherjee: Art Work, Biography

 


In 1957, Binod Bihari Mukherjee, who was suffering from vision loss from one eye and vision from the other eye, had completely stopped seeing.

Art life of Binod Bihari Mukherjee:

Vinod Bihari Mukherjee was born on 7 February 1904 in the 'Behala' city of Kolkata.

Binod Vihari Mukherjee was influenced by the paintings of Avanindranath, Gaganendranath, and Nandlal Bose etc. in Santiniketan.

He also went to Japan in 1936 where he was captivated by the art of Japanese painter Sosatsu.

He also made frescoes in Santiniketan's Kala Bhavan, China Bhawan, and Hindi Bhavan.

Documentary film:

Art film producer Late 'Satyajit Ray' made a portrait on him, which was given the title "Inner Eye".

In 1949–50 he also served as the President of Nepal Museum.

Medium:

He worked with watercolor, oil color, tempera method. The "Tea Lover" painted by him creates a unique atmosphere in depicting the red and blue raised leaves of trees and plants, the dark blue hair of the figures, the macro menus and their mouth posture.

Award :

Mukherjee was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1974, one of the highest civilian awards given by the Republic of India. In addition, he received the Desikotram (1977), and the prestigious Rabindra Award (1980).

Death:

Mukherjee Babu died on 11 November 1980.
